Abstract

We study a degenerate stochastic system inspired by bias-corrected Adam. The system arises as the continuous-time limit of an explicitly modified recursion in which the squared-gradient update is replaced by a prescribed second-moment closure. We construct an entrance solution at the singular initial time and prove convergence of the modified recursion on finite time intervals away from zero. Bias correction enters through time-dependent coefficients which converge to constants as time tends to infinity. For a smooth objective with globally Lipschitz gradient and radial dissipativity at infinity, we prove existence and uniqueness of an invariant probability measure for the autonomous system under either b<4ab<4a or γLf≤a(σ/2+ε)/4γL_f\le a(σ/\sqrt2+\varepsilon)/4. Here LfL_f is the Lipschitz constant of the gradient, a,ba,b are the relaxation rates, γγ is the learning-rate parameter, and σ,εσ,\varepsilon are the noise and regularization parameters. The proof combines an exponential Lyapunov function with compact-set minorization obtained from explicit control paths and a regular endpoint map. Under an exponential Lyapunov moment condition, we obtain exponential convergence in weighted total variation and in the squared 22-Wasserstein distance of the complete state. The invariant law has finite moments of every order, and qualitative total variation convergence holds for every initial probability law. The time-inhomogeneous process converges weakly to the same invariant law. We formulate the associated Fokker-Planck equation for probability measures and establish local hypoellipticity and smoothness of the invariant density where Diag⁡(∇f)D2f\operatorname{Diag}(\nabla f)D^2f is invertible. A quadratic example shows that a uniform exponential convergence estimate requires a prefactor growing exponentially in the initial position along a specified family of states.

Not a correctness certificate. A green “no issues found” result may include yellow suspected typos or minor formal issues that do not affect substantive soundness. It means this audit found no unresolved substantive error under the stated criteria; it does not replace expert scrutiny or formal verification.

The entrance construction, invariant-law theorem, quantitative convergence, and inhomogeneous weak-convergence result for the continuous-time Adam model are supported under the paper's stated regularity and coercivity assumptions.

Theorem 2.3No issue found

The singular initial condition has a unique entrance solution

PDF pp. 7–12 · Theorem 2.3 and Section 3 · arXiv:2604.00840v2

The modified equations with positive initial second-moment coordinate have globally defined solutions. The gradient-map estimates are uniform as the regularization vanishes, and compactness plus pathwise uniqueness identifies the limit. The stated convergence of the modified recursions follows from the same estimates.

Theorem 1.1No issue found

Existence, uniqueness, and quantitative convergence to the invariant law follow

PDF pp. 3–5 and 18–39 · Theorem 1.1, Propositions 4.1, 4.3, 5.1, and Section 6 · arXiv:2604.00840v2

The two Lyapunov estimates provide moment control and recurrence. Hörmander's bracket condition gives local smoothing, while the explicit control path and support argument produce a small set. The resulting Harris estimate yields the unique invariant probability and weighted total-variation convergence; the synchronous estimates give the claimed Wasserstein control.

Theorem 1.5No issue found

The inhomogeneous process converges to the homogeneous invariant law

PDF pp. 5–6 and 40–44 · Theorem 1.5 · arXiv:2604.00840v2

Uniform Lyapunov bounds give tightness of the time-dependent laws. On fixed terminal windows the coefficients converge to those of the homogeneous diffusion, and the comparison estimates identify every subsequential limit with the unique invariant law from Theorem 1.1.

The Fokker–Planck, hypoelliptic, Lyapunov, controllability, minorization, and asymptotic-comparison arguments needed for the central theorems are internally consistent and cover the stated parameter ranges.

The analytic inputs to Harris recurrence are verified

PDF pp. 10–39 · arXiv:2604.00840v2

The derivatives of the regularized drift have the stated bounds, the displayed Lie brackets span the missing directions, and the Lyapunov generator computations absorb the mixed terms with constants uniform on the required sets. The control construction reaches the reference region without leaving the admissible state space, giving the announced minorization.

The coupling and comparison estimates close the convergence claims

PDF pp. 45–49 · Appendix B · arXiv:2604.00840v2

The difference equations are localized before applying Grönwall-type estimates; the stopping errors are controlled by the previously established moments. The constants have the declared dependence, so the localization can be removed and the limits used in Theorems 1.1 and 1.5 are justified.

Recommended production method

Authenticate with ORCID, then require an exact arXiv match

MathAudit should accept the identity only when ORCID OAuth authenticates the claimant's iD and this exact arXiv paper appears in arXiv's public authority feed for that iD. A matching name alone is not sufficient.

ORCID OAuth and arXiv authority-record lookup are not connected in this local prototype.

Email fallback for papers without a linked ORCID

A production fallback could send a one-time link only when the submitted address matches an independently maintained author-contact allowlist for this paper. MathAudit must return the same message for every address so the form cannot reveal which contacts are on that list.

This demonstration does not send, store, or compare the address.

Structured response preview

This form remains unavailable until production identity verification succeeds. Nothing entered here is submitted.

This panel never establishes authorship in the local prototype. A production result should be described narrowly as an authenticated ORCID match or control of a separately allowlisted author-contact mailbox.
